BTWSC’s Roots To Branches marks Black History Month 2008 with music and sketch at this inter-generational, edu-tainment concert. The Songs Of Life, Survival & Empowerment Concert is a family-friendly, edu-tainment event that tells the story of recent African British life, struggles and uplifting moments. Supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, the free event focuses on underground, socio-political and empowering songs covering R&B, soul, rap, reggae, lovers rock, gospel, jazz and drum & bass. Band includes Noel McKoy, Niles Hailstones, and guest performers include soul star Don-e, rapper Kof and gospeller Neresa Maye. Please note: concert is suitable for youths. It includes dramatised sketch led Black Music Congress founder Kwaku. Open mic section featuring youths precedes the live concert, which starts at 8pm.
