Willesden Green Library Centre, 95 High Road, NW10 2SFAn intimate gathering with KB Asante, an octegenarian career diplomat who worked closely with Presid
As Ghana commemorates its 50th anniversary, Mr Asante, who's been a teacher and Education Secretary, will tell us about the hopes of Ghana and its first president at independence, and where Africa is in terms of the current political climate. This will be followed by readings from his book, 'Voice From Afar', and a Q&A session.
Mr. Asante worked in various capacities, including representing Ghana at the UN, OAU agencies, and ambassadorships in Europe, including high commissioner to the UK (background can be found in ('Who Is Who')
A former school teacher, he's a raconteur with great knowledge of African and world history. Although 'retired', he is still politically active and writes an influential social commentary in the Daily Graphic, Ghana's leading national newspaper. His book, 'Voice From Afar', consists of articles culled from over ten years of his column's output.
